Central Christian Crusaders Football
October 8th, 2015
Central Christian’s 8-man football program plays its annual Black & Blue Bowl against rival Ballard Christian next week at home. But the Crusaders may have felt like they went through another one on Thursday, winning a battle in the trenches while defeating Holy Ground of Roopville 64-26 at East Coweta Middle School’s McKnight Field. Central finally broke away from the Stallions late in the first half, capitalizing on a fourth-down stop just before half- time while leading 24-20 with 13 seconds to play. Crusaders senior quarterback Jared Farlow used the time to his advantage to score one of his six rushing touchdowns in the victory as Central went to halftime ahead 32-20. Farlow’s starting line of seniors Jesse Parkerson, Jordan Fuller and Jared Ruck did their part as well in the victory on both sides of the ball, giving Farlow plenty of holes en route to 251 yards rushing and 131 yards passing. Senior tight end Colt Dooley caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Farlow while finishing with 11 tackles. Running back Deion Blackmon added two scores while posting 64 yards rushing and 67 receiving. The senior also caused a fumble for Central, which improved its overall record to 7-0 and 2-0 in the GICAA Division II West Region. Senior Bailey Todd added a fumble recovery and nine tackles on defense in the game, which had both teams tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter. Todd also had 48 yards rushing in the victory. Avery Staples posted six tackles. Fuller had eight tackles and Ruck had six.
