Central Christian Crusaders Football
September 18th, 2015
Ready or not, Central Christian will take a perfect record into its first division game in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association next week after improving to 5-0 with a 60-6 win over Peachtree Academy of Covington on Friday at East Coweta Middle School’s McKnight Field. Jacquez ‘Deion’ Blackmon returned to the Crusaders lineup in a big way, rushing for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Central now heads into a much-anticipated GICAA Division II opener next week at Lafayette Christian (1-1) in LaGrange. Lafayette hosted Praise Academy (2-1) on Friday. Senior quarterback Jared Farlow continued to provide big plays on both sides of the ball for Central on Friday. He opened the scoring with a 75-yard run as the Crusaders took a 16-6 lead before dominating the second quarter. Central outscored Peachtree Academy 30-0 in the second, with one of the team’s five touchdowns coming on Farlow’s 60-yard interception return – one of three for the Crusaders senior standout in the victory. Farlow finished with 114 yards rushing and three touchdowns along with 60 all-purpose yards on returns. He also completed a 40-yard pass to fullback Bailey Todd, who had a pair of touchdown runs in the victory. Central continued to plug holes in the lineup due to injuries with senior lineman Jared Ruck among those sitting out. Freshman Zach Obie took Ruck’s place. Senior Jesse Parkerson and Jordan Fuller were again strong up front on both sides of the ball and linebackers Avery Staples, Marcellus Giles and Colt Dooley dominated defensively. Freshman running back Chris Nugent closed the game with a 54-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
